Daily open-close

Open-Closedefined

Plots each session's opening and closing prices directly, so you can see at a glance whether a session closed higher or lower than it opened.

What the numbers mean

Nothing to set — this one is read straight off price or volume, with no lookback period or multiplier behind it.

How it is used

Used to see at a glance whether sessions are closing above or below where they opened — a run of closes above their opens describes buying that persists through the day rather than fading into the close.

  • A run of closes above their opens → buying that persists through the day
  • Closes below opens during a rally → distribution into strength
  • The same information candle bodies show, plotted as lines

How it relates to everything else

This is candle anatomy in line form, and it is what the Intraday Momentum Index accumulates into an RSI-style reading. It says nothing about the path between the two prices.

  • The data behind candle bodies and the IMI
  • A session that collapsed and recovered looks identical to a quiet drift up
  • Most meaningful on instruments with a real opening auction

What to watch for

It says nothing about the path between the two prices; a session that collapsed and recovered looks identical to one that drifted quietly upward.
